2010 Camaro Fuel Economy
GM has announced the EPA Gas Mileage Estimates for the 2010 Camaro. Not only is it good; it’s leading the Ford Mustang, and Dodge Challenger with its fuel economy. With 29mpg on the highway in the V6 model of the car, and 25mpg on the highway with the SS. With 29 MPG the V6 option might have just turned on a few more buyers, it’s the 24 MPG V8 that may get some consumers attention. With only 5 MPG less than the V6, is it really worth sacrificing 120 HP for 5 MPG? In our opinion 120 HP > 5 MPG.

2010 Camaro V6: 18mpg city | 29mpg highway
2010 Camaro V8: 16mpg city | 24mpg highway

Comparison of V6 Models: (City | Highway)
18 | 29 – 2010 Camaro V6
18 | 26 – 2010 Mustang V6
17 | 25 – 2009 Charger V6

Comparison of V8 Models: (City | Highway)
16 | 24 – 2010 Camaro SS
16 | 24 – 2010 Mustang GT
13 | 18 – 2009 Challenger SRT8

  1. seems very similar to the 4th gen v6 and v8 mpg.s With a lot more horsepower. NICE!!!

  2. Too bad it takes such wizardry as Displacement on demand to get those kinds of Economy numbers. Maybe if GM made it weigh about 500 lbs less it wouldn’t need such things to get the same numbers as the last gen F bodies.

  3. not bad, but it is pretty much the same as the 4th gen.

  4. Yeah, it is similar to the 2002 numbers for both the V6 and V8. With crash regulations and things it makes it harder to keep the cars lighter. I’m sure they could lighten it up quite a bit while still keeping it functional. I can’t complain with the mileage numbers with 420 horsepower and 3900lbs of weight to lug around.

It’d be great if they could lighten it a good 400 to 500 pounds, but not sure if it’d be worth the price it’d cost them.

  5. F-body FTW in a very predictable fashion. Even the 4th gens had amazing fuel economy if not the same as these new 5th gens. At least there is something that GM has been doing right.
