2011 Camaro Convertible On Track For Production

As we announced in late March, the rumors of the cancellation of the Camaro Convertible were just that, rumors. Sure, there were some problems with the company that was going to create the drop-tops but now we have official word from General Motors that the convertible will indeed be in production. The only catch is that it’s about a year later than what most people had thought. GM is aiming for Q1 of 2011 for the release of the anticipated ‘vert Camaro.
“The convertible was never canceled,” Rhadigan told Automotive News. “It was retimed. … We always thought it would be one year after the coupe. Instead we are going two.”
This is good news for convertible fans. While GM’s future is still up in the air (quite gloomy air too) the Camaro is one of the few bright spots in the current times. We think that the convertible will also be a good sell, that is if everyone doesn’t buy a hardtop within the next year before it comes out.
