I love all muscle cars and also appreciate all the domestic manufacturers for one thing or another so being a GM was never a factor for me just the manufacturer with the most favorites. I love GTO's and F-bodies and some of the GM big bodies especially Cadillacs but happen to love the Mopar G-Bodies as well especially in big block with a pistol grip. I am a big fan to the F-body above all mind you, basically because its so versatile on the street. But after seeing the new Camaro and realizing its not an F-body but just a name with some similarities in body hues and then thinking how ricerish it looks to me and kind of feminine I have to be honest....... I fell in love with the new Challenger at first site and the fact it will be available with a 425 hp 5.7 Hemi for around 30k and an optional 505hp 6.1 Hemi for around 40k and then there is the ass kicking idea of the Glock handle 6-speed and it has me bouncing faster then a whore's draws in July as a friend would put it....lol.
As for the new Camaro they are talking 400+ hp and rumors of an optional 490 hp drivetrain..... but with a Corvette flagship, I cannot see them competing with the new Challenger muchless the new Shelby GT in price without killing thier flagship sales. So I fail to see how GM could possibly deliver.......... just my opinion mind you and I know none of the manufacturers are putting anything in stone but so far I have to give credit where it is due and Chrysler has been keeping thier word so far with the course they have been taking, I just cannot say the same for GM.

Cheers,
~Lou

I can do that with all 8 firing. Just let me get away from a 11:1 tune and into something a bit leaner and I'm right back there.

I had to go with the Challenger on this one. Honestly I can't stand the looks of the new Camaro, there is just something off about it's looks. GM also has this terrible habit of not doing enough market research and not marketing their products like they need to. Look at when they killed the Camaro and Firebird derivitives off in 2002. I think we were lucky that GM kept them around for that long. Speed and handling wise they destroyed the Mustang, but they were marketed poorly, had terrible fit, finish, ergonomics and aesthetics. Then this fiasco that GM is calling the GTO is another aborted attempt on GM's part to go after the Mustang. Yes it was faster, handled better, and actually had a great interior, but it looks like a jelly bean, albeit a wicked fast one. GM just needs to come out and hit this one out of the park. I mean GM was giving back huge rebates just to attempt to entice people to buy GTOs. Meanwhile Ford is selling every Mustang they can make. I have no doubt that the Camaro and (hopefully in a few years) Firebird wil pulverize the Mustang in most if not all performance tests, but if they release a questionable product or they fail to market it correctly they will loose that battle again. As far as I am concerned GM (and Mopar) have basically been playing catch up since the inception of "Pony Cars". With a few exceptions, I think the Mustang has outsold the GM and Mopar products by far. But that is just my $0.02 worth.

Later,
Gary

Well my dad already said he's getting the Challenger when it's released, so I'll probably save up for a Camaro, best of both worlds But I think the Challenger will be the better of the two in their "new" rookie years.

Challenger is too retro and I think it won't be a practical vehicle...

Camaro will be more popular and sales will be higher...just my guess
