![]() According to Left Lane News and its inside source, production of the new Camaro will begin on February 16, 2009 at GM's Oshawa plant in Ontario. Naturally, you won't be able to pick up Chevy's newest hotness until sometime the following month, but any confirmation of production dates is a step in the right direction. GM execs had already said that production of some Camaros would begin in late 2008, but most of those would be doled out to engineers and executives to make any last minute changes before production hits full bore in the following months. The other important production date is for the Camaro convertible, which is rumored to begin on December 7, 2009 - not great for wintertime cruising, but again, this is all unconfirmed. Our only concern with the production of the coupe would be how late it's coming to the game. Challenger production will begin a full year before and the Mustang has been here the whole time, which leaves Camaro fans twiddling their thumbs until 2009 at the earliest. Wow, its frightening how far away production still is on the Camaro.
Like in this article, it might be too late. Dodge managed to get the Challenger out much before the Camaro which was a smart move for them. The Camaro better have 0 problems with this much time sitting in pre-production. I really do think that they started marketing it way too early, and now some of the buzz is gone and they'll have to go back and create more buzz with more $$.

but you gotta think about this: The time they are taking is not GM dragging it's feet, they are making DAMN sure this car is RIGHT, no 1st year bugs to get worked out or minor flaws. It seems to me that dodge rushed production and I BET that it will show in the finished product. They will have re-call after re-call on that challenger, you watch.
