1970 Formula 400 RAIII / Muncie close ratio 4-speed / 3:90 Limited Slip 12 bolt Rearend. All factory original and matching number car.
I found her in Kings Park, New York and had been sitting in a garage since 1984 with an original 44k on the odometer and still on Goodyear Polyglass F60-15. She was tight and I could even open and close the door with just my pinky, I know anyone that ever had or still owns a second gen knows what I mean when I say I was shocked. The car was beautiful and that was when I noticed the scoops were open, but I knew what she was because they were not just open but had grilles. So I knew I had a true Ram Air car infront of me. She was in my garage by nightfall....lol. After going through the numbers double checking the authenticity, I started realizing weird things like deluxe interior with the full Formula guage package but no rear defrost, no A/C, no tilt, not even a center console but yet she had a 15" Rallye package with all the HD toys including ext. trim package. Thats when I noticed a manual choke on the car. I started looking into things via the net, books at a friends resto shop and some enthusiast I know and learned of my car. So I recently sent away to PHS and am waiting patiently for my return papers. I just recently started the restoration on her this summer and thats about it for now..........
She is light, meant to go fast and look good doing it..... she makes me proud!
Cheers,
~Lou
Here is when I had her at my job's garage before the second flatbed came to pick her up to bring her to my houses garage after blowing off 3" of dust............
Apparently if you look to the right of the cigarette lighter, above the radio and you will see the manual choke that seems to be a debate amongst many and a significant factor to the car, also have this being looked into.
And the cars nickname was thought up quite quickly by my friends after finding numerous large bone all around the motor. I thank goodness whatever ate the animals those bones were attached to decided to move before I brought the car home.....lol. They seem to be medium dog size. Here is a pic of one of the bones and mind you thats a large zip loc freezer bag and not a sandwich bag.... eeeek! This is why my car is now named "The Bone Collector"
