Default 1980 Trans Am WS6

I bought this one on eBay in '04 for $100. Granted, I had to drive from NY to NJ to get it (About $200 in fuel) I still think I got a hell of a deal on a decent project. This car has no rust in the quarters, rockers or in the frame, but it does have quite a bit of the other typical 2nd gen rot, such as half the tailpanel gone, floors are pretty hammered, and the cowl has some rust. But, with due time this one will be brought back. It originally was white with dark blue deluxe interior, power everything. I plan to repaint it a similar yellow that is on it currently and give it some black custom made 4th gen style decals. Other than that, I'm not sure what will be done as far as motor/trans combo.

Trip home from NJ, I did get the hood, front bumper and one fender for it, but they weren't on the car.

At home, first bath (since I didn't get t-tops with the car I took the t-tops off my '78 for the wash)

Ghetto tops!

After working on it a little bit before being pushed to the back burner:

My custom decals:

The wheels that came with the car look great on it. Did you keep them?

Those wheels never came on it. I purchased the car from a salvage yard (surprise!) Apparently, it was a kids car who blew up the 301 in it, and had to get it out of his parents driveway. So he sold it to the salvage yard. If I hadn't of bid on the car I bet it would have been crushed. Anyway, the rear end was sitting on just two WS6 snowflakes with no rims, and the front end was sitting on just a steelie under the front crossmember. There was no brake components on the car, so I had to steal parts off a subframe I had gotten from a T/A I parted out a year prior, and ended up putting the front disks on so that I could roll the thing around instead of sliding it around on the frame. The only reason I brought those wheels was because they were unilug (They were on the Road Runner a few seasons before) and the tires held air.

Here is a few pictures of the car from the place I bought it from:

Here is the Road Runner with the 14" aluminum mags... Doesn't look anything like this anymore.

You know the deal, they gotta look worse before they look better when it comes to restoring them!
