camshaft or nitrous end of story about 250$ for a cam or 500$ for a nitrous kit but cam possibly 50hp at crank and what ever shot you use for nitrous are the to biggest cheapest gain but personally HATE NITROUS because it is "cheap and temporary" and legally cant be connect on the "street" so the only purpose it lives for is a dragstrip tool just my .02$
or 200$ for a set of 1.7 or 1.8 rockers more lift more are and less labor intensive but prolly only 10-15hp at the crank but a good set of headers 300$ , muffler 100$ and cold air intakes 200$ about 50 hp

Problem with getting the cam is that yes, the actual cam is cheap, but all the other parts you gotta replace begin to add up quickly and then you're looking at a grand from valve springs, timing chain, gasket set, and tune.
I say finish the basic stuff (exhaust & intake) to get the car breathing as best as possible so that when/if you do put a cam in there you'll get the most benefit possible from it. A cam is one of the best bang for buck mods out there but like I said, maxout the engine's breathability first.

i agree with starting with breathing.
I own a 02 SS, did you buy the car yet? you need to open the passenger door and there should be a sticker from SLP, it will tell you if and what mods have been dont to the car already. IF it is a SLP car, you might already have high flo exhaust and air box lid. so I would reccomend starting with headers and a high flo M.A.S. |

i think that all 02 SS cars have the lid. but i KNOW they arnt all created equal. like mine has the SLP dual/dual exhaust setup. but some of them only have the chevy exhaust.
where as mine is less restrictive...it still needs a Y pipe. over the winter i plan to do Pacesetter ceramic long headers, Y pipe and mass air sensor. thats where im going to start *you still have to check on the pass door about the SLP stuff....or, do you have some pix?? |

so i am not getting that 02 SS as when he(dealer) was looking at it/fixing window motor he said that there was coolant leaking and said that either the head gasket broke or there is a crack in the block
SO I am now looking for a 2002 low-mile camaro ss any color but red and maxprice at 15K so if anyone knows someone

The rocker panels, rear quarter panels, and hood I think are the only places made of metal. I know the fenders, doors, bumpers and rear hatch are made of plastic/fiberglass. At least thats the way it is on my car, I'd think it would be the same on an SS though.
