Default Diagnostic help please...

Ok lately my car hasn't been running that well. There is a lack of power, backfires frequently, and the exhaust manifolds glow orange after driving for a while. The car was setting a P0336, even after I replaced the sensor. I did a little research and found that my problems could be due to a bad opti, the car does have 140K on it.
This morning, while on the freeway, the rpm's started to fall, rise, and fall again, like it was struggling to stay alive, backfiring too. I found a place to pull over and it died. I won't start now, just cranks forever. I pulled the codes and I am getting:
P0101 Mass Air Flow System Performance
P0336 Crankshaft Position Sensor Performance
P0400 EGR Flow Malfunction
Can I assume that this is still opti related?

Check your fuses, and or put a scanner on the car and see if your getting a signal from your maf, o2 sensors, ect. If your sensor fuse goes then the car will run in speed d and will have no fuel correction.

If you have never changed the opti it would not hurt to do plugs and wires with a new opti.

Mine did the same exact thing when it stranded me an hour away from home. I tried everything, even random stuff. I did: MAP, IAT, CTS, plugs and wires. Finally I put an optispark in it and it quit. Mine threw the same codes also. Almost bought a MAF but now I'm glad I didn't. I even went as far as getting a TechII from work and driving it around watching the data stream until it died. Everything looked good except for the misfire counter. Like Jason said, it couldn't hurt to do the Opti (I also replaced the water pump at the same time, I know its pricey but think what would happen if your water pump went out and spewed all over your brand new opti).

Well I ordered an opti and I'm gonna replace it tomorrow. The pump is less than a year old so I'm gonna assume its still good. I will post my results when I am done, hopefully this cures it.

From the glowing manifolds , smell fuel ? I'm guessing you are running rich ? It may be from unburned fuel being burned in the manifold. Is the opti original at 140k? But anyway sounds like an opti issue, seems like you are headed in the right direction . Good luck keep us posted.

Well I replaced the opti last night, took a while. The old opti was very corroded and it rattles as if one of the screws backed out. Haven't opened it up yet.
Drove the car for a short while this morning. Feels much better, no backfiring, no stumble, won't know if the manifolds still glow until night. No codes for the short trip yet. Hopefully it stays that way, don't want to get too excited too quickly.

Well, the car seems to run normal again, but the p0336 code is still there. I don't get it.
