Default Need Your Feedback...

Gang,

I need your expert opinions here...

As much as I hate to do it, I need to sell my '95 Z28 Convertible. I bought my home at the *exact* wrong time in the market and need to seriously refinance - and with *negative* equity I have to come up with *another* down payment... so, my ride must go...

But it's not so easy as I really don't know what it is worth. It's in good to excellent condition, with lots of mods, but at the same time needs some attention... so I'm at a loss and I hope you guys can chime in with killer suggestions.

Ok, so here is the car:

-- General:

1995 Supercharged Chevy Camaro Z28 6-Speed Convertible
Black with Black leather interior
Generally Very Good to Excellent condition - always garaged
Featured in Hot Rod Magazine (Sept. '99)
~530 Horsepower (dyno'd at 460 RWHP)
Has run a 12.4 @ 117 MPH on STREET TIRES
27k Miles

-- Major Power Mods:

Vortech S-Trim supercharger pushing 10-11psi (7" IIRC)
CNC ported heads with 9.5:11 compression (done by CNC Cylinder heads in Pinellas Park FL); 2.02 intakes; 1.60 exhaust
AS&M 1&5/8 inch Headers
Crane gold 1.6 roller rockers
Borla catback exhaust
BBK 52mm throttle body
3.73 rear gears (speedo adjusted)

-- Secondary Power Mods:

Digicon Smart Spark (killer: dial in your own custom timing curve across entire RPM range!)
HyperTech Power Programmer (including 6000 RPM rev limit, 3.73 speedo adjust, etc)
Crane HI-6 Ignition module with High Quality Plugs & wires
160 degree thermostat
1LE Driveshaft

-- Other Mods:

Center Console Crane Boost and Fuel Pressure gauges
OZ 17" 275's Z-Rated 3-Piece wheels (originally paid $3k for wheels/tires)
No Cags/Skip Shift
Hurst shifter
Engine bay Stiffening bar (I'm not so into suspension so I forget the proper name)
Removed MAF screen

-- Bonus Parts (not currently installed but included with the car)

Pan hard rod
Bolt-in Rollbar (I use it to trick tracks into letting a convertible run in the 12's!)
Gutted catalytic converter (wha? Who me!?!?)

-- Notes

Since the car has the stock cam, it passes emissions with no problem at all
Always used only synthetic oil

-- Caveats:

OK... now we get to the rub of my problem. There are two major areas where the car needs attention:

1) The stock OEM clutch needs replacing. It's fine for driving around town in a normal manner, so the car is indeed driveable as it is. I DO have a McCleod clutch and pressure plate, but it of course needs to be installed. If I recall McCleod stopped making their 4th Gen F-body clutches and I got one of the last ones (dunno if that is still a big deal any more...)

2) A while back the supercharger bearings started to moan. Not the normal whine of a SC, more of a deeper moaning. I pulled and checked the oil delivery and it is getting plenty of oil. I think that with the larger crank SC pulley that I installed to up the boost when I ported the heads the tension on the SC bearings increased. Not normally a problem with with only 27k miles on the car I think it sat too long in one rotational position and that took its toll on the bearings. So right now I'm driving it with the SC belt removed...

Anyway, unless anyone has any other thoughts, I figure the SC needs to be removed and sent back to Vortech for fixing/upgrading.

So.... a few questions come to mind I put to you:

- Will I be better off selling as is or fixing everything myself and then selling it?

- Would I be better off parting it out?

- If I sell as is, what do you think I could get for it?

Any input you guys have is extreeeeeemely appreciated!!!

Thanks,
Ando

Post some pics of the interior and exterior car when possible, that'll help with an esitmate.

If you can fix the problems yourself then do that and then sell, otherwise I say part it out.

OK.... I figured I should make a web page that shows the car and lists the mods and the situation... took me a couple days to get all that done what with work and life, etc...

So... go here and let me know if you all have any further feedback: Maclings

Thanks!!!
