Default pop'ed raditor hose - lost forward motion - HELP please

Hello

I could really use your opnion on this... im stumpted~

Last night while driving my 95 firebird in a parking lot about 15 miles per hour I hear a "thump". It sounded like I may or ran over a tree branch or something it didnt seem like a big deal but I hit breaks to check it out.

I started to pull over to side to not block road and I noticed the cars forward motion was bad but moving.

upon getting out of car I didnt see a branch so I poped the hood thinking it might be a snaped belt or somthing. Belt has been squeeking but seemed ok.

I noticed about a 1 inch cut in the large rubber tube (1.3 inch rubber molder tube) going to the front center of the engine. I belive this to be the coolent hose.

Please note: the car has not been overheating at all. It runs with temo zero to about 1/4 hot. I drive this car about 15 min a day (short distance to work).

So poping a coolent hose on a 1995 car isnt all that odd but upon getting in the car would start fine, idle fine but went I step on the gas it doesnt go forward in any gear... like a transmission problem. Reverse doesnt work either.

From other cars ive had in the case of a trans problem the car still works in some gears or crappy but does move.

Any ideas on this?

Thank you in advance. I had it towed but hoping on a idea of what to expect cost wise.

PS> is it possible the pop'ed hose is causing the problem in not moving?

Are you able to see what fluid you've lost as a result of that hose leaking?
