Default LT1 Cam

I know everybody here has thought this question. I just looking to see what you guys came up with for answers. I am looking to put a new cam in my 96 Z and don't which one to go with. There are so many options out there, how do you choose. I plan to install a new cam along with a ported factory heads and long tube headers. Please let me know what you think or what you have tried.

Default What cam works the best

What cam do you think works the best in the LT1? I have heard alot of people talk about the CC503, CC305 and the TPIS ZZ-409.

It's hard to answer a question based on "works best". Do you mean which one makes the most power? Is the best for stock heads? Is the best for power and driveability? If I had to pick one out of those 3 I would go with the cc503. It will make good power with simple bolt-ons and stock heads. You WILL need a tune with it to make the most of it. It WILL have a nice lopey idle, but it will also be 100% streetable. It is the best choice of the 3 you have listed.

Like Joelster said, "works the best" is hard to really say depending on what you're going for.

What do you plan on doing with it?
-Are you just going to get a new cam, few other bolt-ons and call it a day?
-Do you want a trailer queen?
-Most possible power while still street-driven (still can be a pain to street drive, but manageable)

Ya, something that will give the most for your money. I want something that is going to be streetable and can be driven anytime. I do not plan or racing this at a track or anything. I just want to beat the other guy to the next light. I plan to add a 52mm Throttle Body, have the stocks heads reworked, add some long tube headers and cat-back. That’s about it for right now. My thought was these cars aren't new. So everything I want to do I am sure alot of other people have already tried. I was just trying to see what other people have tried or would recommend or definitely not recommend.

also check out the cams that loyd elliot makes for the LT1, my friend has a 25th ann. T/A and all he has is a stg 2 loyd elliot cam, longtubes, a few other misc. bolt-ons and 4.10 gears and tuning, he knocks out high 11's all day long.
