Default 3.4L to 3.8L Swap

I'm curious as to what types of modifications need to made to swap out a 3.4L for a 3.8L in my 95 Camaro. Does it need a new fuel pump? Is the transmission good enough? What if I inserted a supercharged 3.8L? Hate to be such a noob about it, but I've been searching on google for a guide for the past two hours, and maybe the lack of a checklist is a clue that its simple as hell... either way, any help would be much appreciated.

Not sure if you'd need a new fuel pump, but depending on how old and how many miles you have on your tranny it might be wise to just go ahead and get a new/er one. Besides, swapping out a tranny isn't hard if you've got a weekend to spare.

Just curious, but are you getting a 3.8 really cheap, or what is the reasoning to move up that little bit when you can go up to say... 5.7

The 3.8 is going to be easier to install than a v8, but you're going to need almost the same things. New wiring harness, new or flashed PCM, depending on the year of the 3.8 and so forth, there will be a bit of fabrication involved.

Now, as per putting the supercharged motor in, no, it wont work. Unless you fabricate the living hell out of the car, the supercharged 3.8 that came in the GTP's, is a whole different animal, it has the motor turned in the engine bay, so all the belts are on the left side instead of being out front with the throttle body.

I'd recommend just doing a v8 swap if you're going to go through that much trouble.

I was looking it as a more down-the-road type thing, like when my 3.4 ends up blowing up on me. Basically I was just curious as to whether it would be worth my time to do, particularly in comparison to upgrading to a V8. Thanks a lot though you guys, I appreciate your help. What I'll probably end up doing is just selling that car at some point and picking up a Z28. Always wanted an IROC Z28 but I saw a 3.4 fourth gen for $1000 and decided I'd pick it up just for kicks over the summer. Love the forum btw.

yea, im gonna agree with everyone else on this. if you are going to do a swap, just go V8. Cause im pretty sure tranny bolt patterns are different on both V6's, i think you would have to change out the tranny anyway,
