Default Can someone help me out on air intake?

I have a 94 Firebird with the 3.4L engine. I was thinking of using my stock air intake hose and disconnecting it at the air box(where filter is) and modding it to accept a K@N filter. Wouldn't this give me the same effect as a cold air intake for $50 instead of $250?

hey kyleag89,

i did exactly what you mentioned above and it worked fine,
i dont know if it shows the same results as a cold air intake,
but it sounds, and performs, alot better than it did before with the K&N intake cone attached

I made a CAI yesterday. I bought a K@N filter and just clamped it onto the end of the stock air tube where it goes into the air box. The filter sits right in front of where the air comes into the engine compartment. I have noticed a small gain in acceleration and a huge difference in gas mileage. It also makes a small hiss when you hit the gas.

Make sure its' nice and snug, don't want any dirt slipping past and over the ears slowly destroying your engine. Oh and BTW. don't use K&N, AEM dryflow all the way, no oil used, just wash and go!

AEM? I'll have to stop by autozone and see if I can find one. My K&N is due for an oiling in 1k miles.

No problem Transamken.
