The noise I heard cleared up the next morning after I ran a piece of "the roughest sand paper on earth" between the wheel and the caliper.

It's been away and doing it's own thing for about a month now... and I've been too busy with three jobs to care ... so ... eh, it'll come back some day. lol

Alright since I was talking about this before I thought I'd just start it up in this thread. I was on another forum and a member was mentioning that he had K&N FIPK in his 2000 firebird (exact same car as mine) and he said that when it was raining really hard a couple weeks ago that water was actually going threw the 2 small scoops in front and going threw the k&n fipk and into his engine. Now he has engine problems and his mechanics saying he might have to pay a sh!tload of money to get it fixed.

Sooooo is this even possible???? Or did this guy just not do an installation step right. Because some members were saying hes on drugs and and its not possible and others said yes its possible.

Every time I go to pull the trigger on buying a product I come across very negative things....... but people always have something negative to say.

Just seeing if any body's heard of such a thing or had it happen.

Thanks, Sam

It is possible (VERY VERY VERY rare), but he probably did mess up on the installation. FIPK is what I was going to go with but was told by several mechanics that I'd only see the performance gains at high speeds, my car is a DD not a track machine so I went with a Whisper Lid, K&N Filter, & Fast Toys Ram Air. Don't worry about FIPK, I asked the same question on here a few months ago, it's a very safe set up to run.

I did the "free" air mods on my daily driver 2000 V6 and it likes them. -- and it's a heck of a lot cheaper than the K&N deal. -- I do have a K&N filter though.

The little bit of water that could be picked up through the cars nose would be so minor that it wouldn't hurt much if anything. Giving a car a small "drink of water" once in a while can help it breath a bit ... but I don't recommend it. (ref: water injection for FI cars and all that... )

Exactly. Unless he submerged the nose into a few feet of water, there isnt really any chance of that happening.

Really?? I'm not really looking for high speed performance, im looking for fastest off the line (not gonna be doing much racing above 100). Do you like that setup you have???

I looked it up and its going to run me around 300+ bucks for that setup. That aint bad at all.

I love the FIPK. I prefer it over the lid, but I also dont have Ram Air either.

Its pretty much whatever you prefer. Both are safe, and work well.

Yeah man, my set up definately pepped up my car, it's the only mods I have on right now. Like I said, either set up is going to see the same power gain, and I was going to go with FIPK but was then informed by several people that it's best for higher speeds, even one of the guys from F-Body Central (one of the site sponsors) told me this about FIPK.

Like Phate said, both are safe to run, it's a matter of where do you want to see that power, on the high end or low end? All comes down to what you want.
