Feels Like a Misfire...
Hey guys. I have a 2001 Firebird 3.8L, 5 speed.... NO codes coming up... But for some reason when i hit the gas, it seems like it is misfiring. I replaced the fuel filter, Spark Plugs, Air filter and it has a new thermostat in it, 180*....
It does not do it all the time, only every few times driving it. I thought maybe it had some water or bad gas in it. I put some water remover, and its been about 3 tank fulls since i noticed this problem. I even used 93 octane the last two, still nothing different than before the tuneup stuff.
I'm thinking it could either be the cat converter, or even the fuel pump about to go (happend to my s-10)...
Only does this when i'm accelerating. Drives fine when i'm cruisin.
Any Ideas of what i might be able to check?
BTW, just bought the car and it has 77k miles on it.

Chevron Techron or Seafoam.
Stopped up cat is also a possibility.

I'm going to be trying some seafoam today, I will see how that works. If it isn't that, i'm probably going to go ahead and replace the cat. Can't hurt anything by replacing it .

Or depending on if you have an emissions standards to meet, you could do a cat delete.

Yeah, where i am located at, we have to do our emissions every year... for years 1996 up. My s-10 is going to be catless i believe, once i get to it... lol

Update: Looks like i found the problem.
I will know for sure by the end of the day. Well, i replaced the spark plug Wires this time. After that, i noticed it still had a misfire... (Wires needed to be replaced anyways).
I remembered that i had some new coils in the garage from my grand am that i had a few years ago... So i figured, what the hell. I took off the first coil pack... replaced it with the new one... and started it up... I didn't hear a misfire... so i was like... Hmmm.
Then i closed the hood, and took a ride... Wow... Felt like it did before the misfire.. Looks like i fixed it. Good thing i had the coils in the garage... lol Think i'm going to replace them with Accel or MSD coils. 100 bucks, but if i get a better spark, its worth it.
