I have 3.08s on my bird, and i was wondering what cars i can swap 3.23s or 3.42s w/lsd out of and install on mine?
I have an 00 a4 with out traction control. Could i just put put in a lsd into my 3.08s? , rather jump up up to 3.42s but if worse comes to worse, stuffing an lsd in my 3.08s could happen.Or if someone could point me in a good direction where i could get buy some from a place online? Open 3.08s are lame...... so any help would be great.

USually The Carrier Will Only Accept Upp To A Certian Range Its Like If It Had A 3.23 And Lower And A 3.23 And Higher I Dont Really Understand It Myself But Swappin The Whole Rear End Honestly Would Be Easier And Safer Because Some I Know Tried Putting The Unit And Didnt Shim It Right It Howled For The Longest Time And Then "locked" Up And Flip The Car He Survived But By No Means Did The Car..... And 3.42 Are The Best Of Both Worlds Its Just Enough To Get Great Acceleration And Still Wont Kill Your Mileage And Cruising Rpms

Im not trying to be mean, but dont listen to that. Obviously he used thick gears (they make two types in every ratio) and screwed something up.
I'd personally run either 3.42's or 3.73's. |

Sorry for wasting your times guys, checked my door jam 3.43s and LSD, saw the G80 code, and almost fell to the floor, what made me question my lsd, is that my passenger side tire all ways seems to spin off hard launches and the drivers side makes no noise???.....last nights burn out solved that mystery though
thanks for the help anyways!!!

I didnt mean you, I meant what you said. The way you said it made it sound like doing a carrier swap could kill you. Shims wouldnt cause a carrier to lock up, only cause it to come apart. If he used thick gears and tried to make them work, he could undoubtably lock it up.
