Default knocking sound

whenever i accelerate, no matter what gear, i hear something knocking in my engine. its not that noticable, only if you listen closely. and my car runs fine still fast like when i bought it. also my car only has 98k miles on it. also i use high mileage oil. does anyone know what it can be?

If you are not noticing any symptoms other than the sound, it can be many things. Obvious possibilities are a sticking lifter, valve noise, and injector noise.

is there a way to fix those symptoms (by buying something) or would i have to take it to a mechanic?

I cannot say for sure if that is the noise you are hearing, so it all might be a moot point. But they make many additives to your oil that are said to lessen the noise, but I havnt seen many of them work very well. My advice, is just live with it until you know what it is for sure.

Yeah unfortunately if you take it to a shop without knowing the problem, odds are you'll get taken. If my mechanic's shop hadn't just moved I'd give you his number since his old shop was in Polk county and he is a very honest guy.
