Exclamation 1992 Camaro RS Project

Hi guys, im new to the forums. I just recently sold my 1995 Trans Am and decided to invest in an older style fbody. I bought a 92 RS from a friend for next to nothing and invested the rest of the money in a very well built 350 and TH400 tranny, 2800 stall and ford 9" (which will be installed later). Right now im just worried about the engine and tranny swap. The 350 is carburated (750 Holley oversized to a 870 ) so im wondering... im wanting to get rid of the computer controlled bs all together but i assume thats what the ABS system is hooked up to? i need the headlights, taillights and turn signals along with heat. Im pulling the air conditioner stuff out.... i just need alittle help on figuring out how im going to wire this thing.

Welcome to FBO!! I did a very similar swap in my Firebird a few years ago and what I did was I installed the motor and tranny and starting hooking everything up. As I came across parts of the wiring harness I no longer needed I would cut it out. Thats the best way IMO to be sure you dont cut out something you need.

Thank you, glad to be a new member... until they start charging lol. I was a member of fbody.com when i had my Trans Am but I cant afford to pay for an online forum right now... but this seems like a nice friendly all around good message forum, maybe not as much activity as I would like but Im sure I'll get all the help I need. Well appreciated.

Im just not sure exactly i need. This is my first swap. Basically i need the ignition (don't know what wires run to that), and lights and turn signals. For the most part if i can get it swapped and just get it to start for now I would be happy... well along with brake lights lol. Is there a wiring diagram online i could go by or should i just buy a manual? I already cut a few wires i probably shouldnt have but I kinda want to run all new wires (the ones I need).

Yeah any parts store should have either a Haynes or Chiltons manual for the 82-92 F-Body. Its not as hard as it sounds. Dont worry about the headlights, taillights and stuff like that. The wiring for those parts are not associated with the engine wiring harness. All you will be messing with is the engine harness. Once you get the engine in get your alternator, starter, distributor all hooked up. If you are keeping the heater/ac you will need the wiring for that, you will need the wires to the wiper motor. Basically you will be removing all the emissions wiring and the wiring from the computer controlled engine parts.

I ditched the EFI on my '88 Camaro. Put a return style adjustable fuel regulator in place and just plumbed it into the stock fuel lines. Swapped out the computer controlled distributor for a vacuum advanced HEI one. Pulled the bulb out of the Service Engine Soon light and drove it away.

Heck before I switched over to E-85 I was making less power off the bottle than you are man. Though with those kinda numbers you gotta ask about the TQ curve.
