Well you don't -need- them. But if you wanna make sure you don't get yourself killed, having one is handy.

It is definently best to have spring compressor for safety reasons plus they make reinstallling the springs a hell of alot easier too.

Okay I may have misunderstood which motor mount bolts you are having trouble with. Are you having trouble with the big bolt that actually bolts the engine to the mounts or is it the 3 bolts that bolt the mounts to the frame?

If its the big bolt that bolts the engine to the mounts than you dont neeed to drop the a-arms for that one. Get an air impact tool and a good boxed end wrench to hold the nut and you should be able to get them loose. Thats what I had to use to get mine out when I did my swap.

If its the 3 bolts that bolt the mounts to the frame than yes dropping the lower a-arms is the easiest way to get to them.

I was referring to the big bolt but the info helped alot. I managed to break the big bolt loose by hand since I dont have access to impact wrenches... its a pain lol

Cool glad to hear you got them loose but yeah when those bolts get rusty they can be a real PITA.

Is it one of the bolts that bolt the torque arm to the rearend or one of the bolts that holds the torque arm bracket on the tranny?

After you remove the 2 large bolts that hold the TQ arm to the rearend get a rubber mallet and knock the tq arm off the rearend (be careful if the driveshaft is removed because the rearend with rotate up). Then you should be able to slide the tq arm back out of the rubber mount on the tranny. Just leave the tq arm bracket bolted to the tranny.
