Default 89 Firebird Formula Headers

hi i have a 89 Formula 5.0 with The 305 TBi. I have a set of headers for it that came of a 85 camaro. I want to put these on and i was wondering if someone knows of an easy way to plumb these into the exhaust system. It is stock with a flowmaster can and dual exhuast tips. Is there someway to use the stock y pipe. any help would be aprreciated.

Welcome to FBO!! Unfortunatly when you go from manifolds to headers your stock y-pipe will not line up. I know when I put headers on my 89 the stock y-pipe was way off from lining up. Any exhaust shop can build a new y-pipe to fit your headers with no problem and thats honestly the best way to go in my opinion.

I personally didnt have a y-pipe built. The headers I bought came with their own y-pipe. I know many people have had y-pipes built at exhaust shops but I am not sure how much they paid for it. Just check with your locals shops and see what they quote.

Yes headers will gain you some power but just changing headers alone will be limited on how much you will gain.
