I know a guy who has an Edelbrock crate and he loves it, but I have been thinking about a GM set up. I'm on the fence but leaning more towards the Edelbrock because of how much this guy raves about it.

Why a crate engine vs building more specifically what you want? Just wondering

Just doing it for the sake of simplicity really. I know a decent amount about automobiles, but I'm not sure if I know enough to assemble an engine on my own, so I just wanna play it safe and get a crate.

Well if he was wanting to build a 400+ hp 350 it'd make sense to build it himself. But at the 300-350 level it's about the same price to buy a crate vs DIY. Least around here. Unless you get lucky and find junkyard parts that aren't there for a good reason.

I hear that. 305s a decent motor. Just they seem to run out of breath around 3500rpm, so they're honestly no fun for a sports car because your driving something with a powerband akin to a diesel truck.

Nah its not bad to swap engines out. I yanked the 305 outta my Bird and dropped in a 408. Pretty much straight foreward. Are you keeping the computer components or going to a carb and HEI distributor??
