Default Help! battery question!

First post! first of all i want to say I love the forum. I hope to frequent it quite often! 4 days ago i purchased an 87 z28 with a swapped carbed 350 with lots lots lots of motor work done to it. no pics of the car yet, it is primered with a decent interior ( needs new seats and a center console, t tops, auto, the works. the guy i bought it from said it had been sitting and needed to be ran to build up the battery. it has been jumped whenever i need to start it. i bought a new battery and new terminals for it, and it STILL wont start without being jumped! the car turns over just fine, the battery is a replacement of whats in there, a walmart maxx75N with about 690 cca. is the battery not powerful enough to start the car? is there another battery that will work? or could it be something else? when jumped it will usually start for the rest of the day. but sitting overnight it will not start. i am very excited to get this project under way, after about ten years of dreaming i finally have my dream car!!

great website! and thanks in advance for any help!

rick

Welcome to FBO. Sounds like your car has a lot of pottential. It's a possibility your losing power someplace. If you jump it and then let it run the alternator is probally charging the battery enough to start through out the day. But there might be a short or bad connection thats draining your battery when it sits for a while. Just an thought.

Sounds like there is a draw on the battery somewhere. It would have to be something major to kill it in one day. Check the rear hatch light, or the underhood light (if there is one).
