Well, I went ahead and put them on anyway with a little gasket matching for good measure. I haven't driven the car yet as I'm getting it ready for Auto Fair but from the run time that it's had so far the throttle response seems a bit snappier and it starts much easier. Before it would slowly come to when I started it but now it jumps to life. Maybe she'll prove the nay-sayers wrong again. At least they look good.

I'm a supported of the 305. It's a V8 and the 350s little brother. You can always throw a set of 113 casting heads on there with a new intake to match those SLP runners and maybe a bigger throttle body. Cam upgrade of course. I think you could get pretty close to that 230 mark with the right combo. That's just my opinion about it. The rearend will help too. Are you running a stall? If not, I'd reccommend using the torque convertor from a 94+ S10. It won't be much, but it'll be more than your stock convertor and a good upgrade for a cruiser. That's what I'm running in mine with a TPI 383.

I've always had the idea of putting a 5 speed in the car at some time on the back burner so I'll pass on the converter. I'm not going to do any "major" upgrades on the 305 with the mileage it's got. I'm just going to run it until it either dies or the funds show up for either a rebuild/buildup or a 350 crate. I've had my eye on that 350HO/330hp engine from GMPP. Swap in an FI friendly cam, a Vortec TPI base, some programming and go. But right now that's in the far future, real life has to be dealt with first.

I understand that. I have a T56 sitting in my storage unit to have put into my car, but I can't because of the lack of funds to have it rebuilt, installed, and the new tune. It's frustrating.
