Default Trunk release for 92 Convertible

I am going nuts. I know this car should have a remote truck release. I haven't taken the back panel off but looking into the area where the latch is I can see a cable going back to the right. I feel this should be hooked up to a motor. My real question is: where did they place the button to open the trunk/hatch on other Camaros? The only spot I can see a button added in is right below the cigarette lighter. there is a spot there unless that was for a rear window defroster switch.

Default trunk release for 92 Camaro

I looked in the center console and found no button. I know on my 79 Trans Am it was in the glovebox, but sadly the 3rd gens had no glovebox.

The GenIII cars didn't have a "glovebox" like the GenI, GenII, and GenIVs. We had pouches on the passenger side of the dash and the center console box. I know on the Firebirds there was a button on the dash itself below the instruments. Since the cluster in GenIII Camaros is different from Firebirds, I'm not 100% sure, but I'd guess it should be located on the dash itself somewhere. On the GenIV cars the button is under the dash next to the drivers left knee. That's a good question and I hope this information helps some.

Most of the hatch releases in the 3rd gens are right above the radio pod.

On the Camaros the power hatch release button is normally located on the center console between the power window switches. If it's not there then most likely you don't have a remote hatch release. With it being a convertible why would you need a power pulldown motor with just a trunk lid?

Default trunk release for 92 Camaro

I don;t need the power pull down motor but it would be nice to have a power option toopen the trunk. If the trunk operation was electrical, then I could find a way to wire in a wireless remote. I have since pulled the cover of of the trunk latch mechanism and have found out this car does NOT have a remote release. I will research more and eventually installed an electric remote release for the trunk. Thanks for the help.

Yep, it should be the switch in the middle. Ask the guy who was selling the blue one on here where it is, if it isn't by the window switches.
