Default vin decoder for 92 trans am

im trying to find out what rear end gears and if posi or not on an 1992 trans am----any one help on this one??

this wont tell you outright if you've got a Posi, but with this info you should then be able to find out. Some 3rd gen guys should be able to help you more there once they read the thread.

If you get me your axle code I would be able to tell you for sure. Check to be sure there is no tag on one of the rearend cover bolts. If not then on the front side of the passenger side axle tube of the rearend housing there should be a number stamped on there about in the middle. You may need a wire brush to be able to read it but that your axle code. You will need that to know the exact gearing but you can tell if its posi very easy. Jack up the back of the car so bothe back wheels are off the ground. With the tranny in neutral spin one rear tire in the direction as if you were driving down the road. If the other tire spins in the same direction then you have posi. If it doesnt than you dont.
