Question 98 Camaro RS steering play

I have too much play in the steering wheel. Any ideas how I might be able to adjust the play out to tighten up the steering?

Play in the steering wheel = rack issues. There is no adjustment.

Could it possibly be tie rod ends or bad bushings?? I just seem to get a lot of "drifting".

Thanks for the reply.

Phate - Thanks for the reply. Have you ever replaced one? How hard is it to replace? I gotta do the shocks soon and was gonna due the PU bushing upgrade on the front end at the same time. Maybe I should do this as well??

How deep have you gone into your engine? I may like to talk to you about a few things.

Check his fquick, for the short answer. When it comes to the 3.8l he is hands down the best guy to talk to.

Let me put it this way, I can rebuild it in my sleep. And have. Many many times now. Sigh.

If you havnt done alot of mechanical work, this is probally one you may want to skip out on. Its listed at about 3hrs labor rate if I remember correctly, and since it has a rack, its not going to be a quick job.

Unless your bushings are worn out, you wont really notice a difference with the PU's, but, you'll never have to replace that bushing again i'd be willing to bet. So if you're in there anyway, for the money it costs, id most definately do it.

Anyway, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
