Default Camaro shut off

My son was driving his 02 home tonight and it shut off like it was out of gas. Car has 3/4 tank but you can not here if fuel pump runs. Should you be able to hear it? Also, does the Camaro have a inertia switch? If it does, can any one tell me where it is? Thanks for your help

That depends, how quiet is it outside. An internal pump is rather quiet. If you wanna see if it's working hook up a fuel pressure gauge. Just by a cheapie, your checking to see if you have pressure, not to monitor it constantly. Check the fusebox if you got nothing, then check your grounds and work your way back to the fuse.

Now if you have low pressure then change the fuel filter. If that didn't help, be prepared to bend over, because your buying a new pump most likely, that can be very costly, and time consuming.

As far as the inertia switch, I am 99.9% certain no. I own a 00' and I've never seen one on my car.

Does it have spark? Fuel pressure (check the schrader valve on the rail)? If it ran out of fuel, it would have stumbled for a few seconds, sputtered, then died. If it is an electrical problem it would just cut out instantly.
