True that. But gathering with what he said things are well in hand and he just wants to have a nicer car with the money he's probably been carefully putting away for just this knowing full well the kiddo<s> are on the way.

Julie and I had a deal.
The Trans Am had to be finished before having a child.
Well...I got it running.
Never finished...always something.
Love my little girl though!

Thanks for all of the advice. I'm going to the garage for quotes tomorrow. Right now, I'm thinking magna flow, long pipe, CAI, and a chip, but that's subject to change.

^ there is no "chip", you need a solid dyno tune.

Yeah, the garage I go to has a dyno. With the mods I noted what kind of hp jump do think I'll get? Or even better what will the ls1 with those mods dyno around? I'm most likely way off, but I'm hoping for 350 rwhp

Sadly, you probally wont even hit the 300 mark with those mods. A dyno-tune is not nessicary or even beneficial with those minor bolt ons. The only time a dyno-tune is really needed is after a major install, ie. cam, nitrous, etc.

Full bolt on LS1's tend to dyno around 340RWHP depending on tranny.
A dyno tune is always a good idea. The problem is that it isn't normally a very good gain for the $500 is costs. The car will run fine without a tune with bolt-ons. But to get the most out of said bolt-ons...get a tune.

Full botl-ons on my 2001 6 speed was 349/343
Now I got my cam and a re-tune 395/381, but the 4.10 gears are preventing me from hitting the cam only 400rwhp mark.....oh-well, I'm happy, and she pulls hard.

I went and got my qoutes, and the dyno tune is out.
$699 for the flowmasters installed.
$625 for the magnaflow installed.
They didn't have the SLP loudmouth, but said that they could order it for $432, and install it for $60 an hr.
The guy at the garage said he wasn't familiar with the SLP, but in his opinion Flowmasters are the way to go for great sound at low speeds, and idle. Does this sound accurate or is this guy just backing the most expensive set-up? I talked to him about how much money I had left (roughly $1200) and he agreed with the cold air intake, but said the y tube wouldn't do much without new headers. He said a high performance mass airflow sensor would be my best bet according to my budget. Does anybody know anything about this sensor. I looked it up on Jeg's and it says it produces gains of 15-20 hp at the wheels, that sounds a little fishy for a $300 bolt-on.
Total tally prediction..
Exhaust...$650-$700
Cold air intake...$400-$450
Airflow sensor...$300
total...$1350-$1450

Wow those prices are high... yeesh.
I have no idea why flowmasters would cost that much. I know the 80 series goes for around 150 a muffler... but wow.
SLP is Street Legal Performance, its an aftermarket parts vendor. While SLP is very expensive, its still a hell of alot cheaper than this shop is talking about.
SLP Performance Parts - VIEW P/N: 31043 That is the loudmouth system, one of them anyway, there are multiple styles on their site. SLP Performance Parts, Inc.. Im sure our local vendor here Fbody Central could help you out on that kind of stuff. F-Body Central Inc - F-Body Online
Anyway, it seems to me like hes overcharging you. Putting on a prefitted exhaust system takes no time at all.. so im wondering where all this extra money is going. Yet again, hes overcharging for the air intake. That install takes all of a half hour to hour. And the system costs below $300. So yet again, where is that money going?
As per the MAF upgrade... i've never looked into that. Hopefully one of the LS1/LT1 experts can chime in here.
