x2. There is nothing like a cammed car. Just the sound of a good cam makes you get a woodie.

My wife's dad refuses to do anything that requires pulling the engine out. Won't cams require going to a garage where they'll charge me out the ass?

Cam install doesn't require the motor to be pulled.
Just patience and the right tools. Done a few myself.

Cam swap w/ a person that has done a few will / should only take 6-8 hours w/ the right tools. Kinda easy for me now.

Crane has a GREAT valvespring compressor. Works great on these cars.
Air compressor and leakdown to compress the cylinders and hold the valves closed while you change the springs.
Otherwise, basic tools.
And something to hold the lifters up while the cam is removed. Several have used 5/8" wooden dowels from Hobby Lobby for that.

With these tools a cam exchange is possible without raising the engine, is this correct? If so how much do these tools cost? I went and got a new credit card, can my dreams of having a cammed car be possible?!

Motor/heads/intake all stay in place.
The crane valvespring compressor is roughly $100.
Although I wouldn't recommend a cam until you have the majority of the bolt-ons.
