Default Nitrous

Ok, so my buddy owns one of the biggest diesel shops in the country and deals with nitrous all the time. He said he could get me an awesome deal on a nitrous kit. so i say what the hell and tell him to pick me one up. Well ive been reading about nitrous and doing some research and have found a couple things pretty interesting. First off, im seeing that a nitrous programmer should be a good investment because the initial "hit" is what damages the motor. i am also seeing that a 100 shot should be just fine to run without having to upgrade my fuel system. and lastly im seeing that for every 50 shot you throw in, you should retard your timing by 2 degrees. So, im looking towards a dry kit, because the intake manifold on the LS1 has been known to let nitrous and fuel from a wet kit pool up in the manifold. but i think im going to go ahead and get a 100 shot dry kit with a programmer. but i dont know if i really need to retard my timing or not since im not going to be using the nitrous very much. I didnt know how, if i did retard the timing, would effect the overall drivability of my car. any suggestions? thanks!

Here is my general Nitrous writeup, if you have any other questions, just let me know.

Personally though, I prefer a wet kit no matter what anyone says. And all cars have the issue of fuel pooling.

Yeah, Phate's guide is very informative. I read that and realised how little I knew about the subject.
