Exclamation Problems trying to get gas in my car

Ok for starters i have 2000 trans am with ls1 engine that i just bought with only 50,000 miles. I have put gas in this car twice. Two days ago i tried to put gas in it and it just spit it back out. So i took it to a shop and had it looked at, and they said that they had no problem putting gas in the car and there was nothing lodged in the tank. Today i tried to put gas in the car again and it just spit it back out no matter how fast or slow i pump it. The car only has a quarter tank of gas in it. What the hell is going on with this car i have never seen a car not take gas.

Might be a problem with the actual gas pump if you're using the same pump both times. I had the gas spill out on me at a station once, the owner of the store came running out and told me that the pump had been acting up all week.

I've had a problem with a pump before as well... Try another place and see if it still does it... You might also want to try to move the nozzle around, maybe try holding it at a different angle. I know sometimes if I turn it upwards, it will shut the pump off, on that safety reaction that it does. Other than that, I can't image it being the car itself.

Maybe where you are, the pumps flow at an unusual rate which causes this backpressure... Hm, not sure really... I would have to say to try another place.

I found out the problem it was the fuel soleniod acting up and causing pressure in a non pressurized tank, wich in turn was shutting my overflow flap in my neck of my gas tank. It actually was causing about 15psi of pressure in the tank when I drove it. But the pressure would go down after it set for a whille then you could get gas in it. Pass this on it could help someone if they have this problem because I never heard anything like this before man.

I wish I had gotten to this thread sooner, I probally could have saved you alot of trouble.

Its not a common problem, but does act up on occasion.
