78 Engine Swap
I recently bought a 455/700r-4 out of a buick that i'm planning on putting into my 78 camaro. Are there any engine swap kits on the market? I'd rather not have to look for a 455 firebird to take the mounts out of.
thnx

455 Firebird mounts would be for a Pontiac 455 not a Buick 455, so they wouldn't help anyways. That is certainly not a popular swap, but honestly, Buick 455's are great motors. You may have to fabricate something for this.

x2, you'll save yourself alot of time by having somethig fabricated instead of trying to find a mount that work's
i sold my 455 that came out of a '72 and put a 350 in my 80 TA. the part's are not easy to come by and they're not cheap

nah not popular, but i'm pretty sure it'll make a nasty drag car.
i figured i'd have to fabricate the mounts.
would i have to fabricate a crossmember for the tranny as well?

Yeah, they're the 2nd best 455s
It would be cool to see a Buick powered camaro though. Opposite of what usually happens.

Yep, you'll have to do a tranny crossmember too. 2nd gens only came with th350's and th400's, etc...no 4 speed autos, the lengths are different. I would imagine you could modify the stock trans crossmember if it is close though.

Is the 455 stock? What do you plan on doing to it. I'd like to see what others are doing with their 455 GM Blocks. You can read about my Olds block in my sig.

Hate to break it to you Andy but as far as 455's go, this is how they rank....
Pontiac455=Buick455>Olds 455 lol.
455Maro, i'm sure you've heard this before, but did you know that a Buick 455 weighs the same as a small-blcok chevy? Get yourself some aluminum heads and you're talking a sub-500lb motor. I would just stick with a single quad setup. Check TAperformance for their goodies, they make great stuff for Bufords.
