On second gen f-body cars which fits best with the least amount of interference (with other parts) the H pipe or the X pipe?
I've heard with the x pipe you will have to do some modification because it hits the cross member or some part like that. |

I'm not positive on 2nd Gen's but obviously it is possible.
Do you know which brand you're going with, or is it going to be custom fabricated? Check out Pypes Exhaust. I got a set and they're great Mandrel Bent pieces. Pypes Performance Exhaust - 1967-81 FIREBIRD & TRANS AM SYSTEMS

Hi Rocket 442,
I've been looking at the magnaflow exhaust systems with the x-pipe (basically the same as the pypes version) and the flowmaster system with the H pipe. I would really like to have the X pipe but don't want to go in that direction if it's is going to cause more headaches than it's worth. Essentially, I'm looking for a clean fit. My other dilemma is the sound of the mufflers that come with the systems. Although I'm not a big Flowmster fan, I prefer the sound of the American Thunder 50 series Delta flow over any of the mufflers from Magnaflow or Pypes. I have 10.5:1 compression so anything I get will be louder than it would be on other cars. |
