Does anyone know if a power steering box from a third gen work in a 2nd generation, without major modification, or are there any opinions on it?
When I got the car someone was kind enough to make it a pain for me. They put the wrong type of fitting into the high pressure side and now it won't seal, no matter what I do. There is also quite a bit of slop in the steering anyway.(Enough that it worries me about 60 mph) I'm 22 and a year from graduating college, so I don't really have the kind of money to just go out and buy a new box. Last I checked O'Reilly's wanted about $220 for one, and I've got one for a third gen just sitting in my garage. Thanks, Adam |

I'm getting mixed answers on this one. However, if it doesn't fit then I found what you're looking for a lot cheaper than $220- PartsTrain.com - Hard to Find Auto Parts and Truck Parts - Power Steering Gear Box - 1979 Pontiac Firebird Power Steering Gear Box Good site, ordered from them before.
