Exclamation 1990 TA 305 tpi Temp, fan, heater controls???

Hi everyone! I'm new to this site. Looks pretty nice. I own a 1990 TA 305 TPI its a pretty nice car its just I have a few problems that I need to fix. I was hoping someone could help me out with at least an educated guess? First off my coolant fans do not work, dont think they ever have (i've had the car over a year now) anyway I put them both to the battery drivers side and passenger side fans and they do work when hooked up to a toggle but thats only way they will come on. Second, my temp guage does not read. Only reads lowest temp possible at all times. Third, My heater/AC does not work. doesnt turn on, doesnt blow, and doesnt even drain the engine when i turn it on when its running-NOTHING. I was wondering if all these problems are connected thru a simple relay? Does the relay work the fans, temp, and heater controls?? Or does anyone have any other idea why its is all at once like that? I really appreciate any answers thanks alot. Ryan

Welcome to FBO! Great looking car. Let tackle these problems one at a time.

Lets start with the temp gauge. The temp gauge sensor is located on the driver side cylinder head between the #1 and #3 cylinders. Check that the wire is connected and in good shape and if so than you may need to replace the sensor.

Once you get the temp gauges working you can see if the fans work after that. They should kick on when the temp gets around 220 degrees. If they dont than you can check the fan relay and switch. The fan relays are located on the firewall between the master cylinder and fender. The fan switch is located on the passenger side cylinder head between the #6 and #8 cylinders.

I think he pretty much nailed what you asked. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago, but in addition to bad relays a previous owner had butchered the wiring for the fans. I'm glad that it's all taken care of now and my stuff's working. That had to be the longest trip from Savannah, GA back to Fayetteville, NC since covered wagons.

WOW Thanks alot for the information. I appreciate it. I definately will get that checked out and report back with the results. Thanks Alot. I hope it is just as simple as some relays. That'd be great news because everything else is in pretty good working order (minus heater Thanks
