It was real hard to launch that old Camaro of mine with the open rear. Just a hair too little it would bog like a bitch (because it was a weak 305 with 2.73 gears...) or a hair too much and it would burn the tire off (and if you let out would immediately bog). It had little skinny tires, though.

Grab them moth at the same time, But I'd go with something a little more highway friendly than 3.73s That is of course if your not plannign on doing a th 400 with a OD a T-56 or a TK500. If your doing the T56 though. I'd grab a 4.5* rear end.

I agree if you have the money it would be great to do the gears and posi at the same time. What gearing you get will partly be based on what tranny you are using and if its a strip only car or a street/strip car.

I'm probably just going to get faster open ended gears. It's goin to be a street/strip car. It has open 3.23's in it now with a 4L60 stock transmission. What highway friendly size would you guys reccommend???

3.73's are still highway friendly, just no lower than that.

I agree 3.73 are a great all around gear. They will give you good performance at the track but with the OD tranny highway driving will not be a problem either. I am running 4.11 gears with an OD tranny and at 65 I am rapping 2400 rpms. So you can see 3.73 with OD wont be bad at all on the highway.

2400 at 65 is a mite fast IMO though. I'd like to be able to go 70 and not spin 3 grand if I don't have to myself.

In the t-5 with 4.10's I was turning 3500@70mph, so now with the 3.73's im doing about 2900@70mph, so I made the car possible to take on trips again lol.
