Camaro Engine Swap
I have a 1993 3.4L Camaro that is in need of a huge engine swap. I have heard you can swap them out for many things, but I want to know if an LT1 is possible and what all it takes to switch one over. Any information would HELP!

Here's a thread that might be helpful.
Here
Personally I say unless you've got a lot of time and money on your hands just get a Maro or Bird that already has a V8. I'd also reccomend dropping a 3.8 there, I'm very satisfied with mine overall, plus if you did put a 3.8 in there you wouldn't have to make many other mods, if any. Hope this helps some.

I'm waiting for funds right now to do this as well. What you're going to need is an engine, transmission, engine harness, and computer. You'll need to get a V8 crossmember, or have someone who knows what they're doing modify the V6 one like PM Performance would do up here in Buffalo.
LT1's aren't hard to fit at all, since they're made for that car
Eventually you'll probably want a new transmission, and at least something besides a pegleg rearend, but you could probably get away with waiting on those at first if need be.
Best bet for your money is to find a totaled car with a LT1 in it and just rip as much as you can off of it to save

This is what I would recomment, too... But if you're going to do it, do it right. Find you a '98-'02 car.

But, see, by what you just said, your spending more in parts alone than you are going to pay for a z28. So why do a swap? Sell the current car and put the money towards a Z. I never understood the swap thing unless you have some parts lying around.
But to each his own. Personally, i'd buy a z28 / SS and just sell the 6banger (and this is coming from me, the v6 king lol)

How do you figure you're spending anything near the cost of a V8
a totalled F-body should not be more than 2,000. There is your engine, harness, trans etc...
If you're good and can/have the space to do it, it costs just about the cost of the donor.
Find me a Z28 with less than 100,000 for 3,000 bucks or less, and I'll go buy it myself.

I can get you a modded z28 with 125 for 3,500 right now. So if that tells you anything...

See, I don't want a modded 125,000 mile LT1.
All "Modded" equals in used cars is beat to shit.
I'd rather take a engine that is stock, tear it down, clean it up and install it in a car that cost me 0.00 that day which in turns saves me money, and allows me to do the modifications I want to do, not what someone else did, then threw it up to 8,000 rpms constantly.

And all stockers are neglected Dealership fixed-it-alls.
Uea you'll want the entire front clip inf you can get ahold of it. Find a Fbody that was sideswiped or something that way you can grab everything off of it including the radiator. And don't' do a LT1. Because optispark sucks :P. That and they're 2 bolt mains.
