Is there any way you can see what the Voltage is at when the vehicle is running (when you get it to run of course).
If you are up around 14 or so Volts... Then your Alternator should be working. If it just ticks, while not being jumped, then you have a dead battery. Could even be a combination of both the battery and Alternator...
It should still work though, if the battery was dead. As long as the Alternator is working, there shouldn't be a problem keeping it running.
Your saying that it only gets to around 1k to 2k Rpms when it does run... Could be a glogged Catalytic Converter... or even a fuel pump (sending unit)...
Considering you probably can't drive it to an auto parts store, because of your in ablitlity to be able to drive.... Can you get a hold of a Volt Meter.... See what the Voltage is at when the vehicle is running... Should be around 14 Volts... Ok.....
An easy way to check if its the cat, is to disconnect it.... maybe from the exhaust manifold etc... whichever is easier.... Then that will rule out the Cat....
Just throwing some things out there... I know i've had problems with ALL of these... lol
