Default F body street/strip help?

Good evening,
I am planning to make my '88 Formula a street/strip car. I plan to put in a Pontiac 400 4barrel with a turbo 400.
I have some questions about this if anyone can help me. I'm sure I need subframe connectors but bolt on or weld? How about the stock rear end? mini spool? Should I pursue this or choose a different car?
Any suggestions comments will be appreciated.

My opinion is go with the weld in subframe connectors. I have heard to many people complain about the bolt in connectors. I have weld in connectors in my car and love them. I recommend the connectors from this site Spohn Performance, Inc.. You dont have to cut your floorboards to install these connectors.

Your stock rearend may last awhile depending on how hard you are hooking up. But sooner or later its gonna blow. I didnt want to waste any time and money on my 10 bolt so I yanked it and put in a 12 bolt.

If its gonna be a street/strip car my opinion is to go with a heavy duty posi unit. Spools are not very good on street driving or so I have heard.

We carry Spohn in our catalog and in the shop it's all we use. Each time you increase power you get closer to braking your rear end. 12 bolts are a solid choice. We install alot of Dana 60s and it is a solid performer and if price is an issue they are less expensive than a 12 bolt. Good Luck!

Corporate 7.5 inch 10-bolts are not good. Don't put a nickel into them. Some last, some don't. If your budget permits, replace it as soon as possible. Then you won't have to worry about it. A built Pontiac 400 motor have enough juice to waste a stock 10-bolt, if you launch it hard with some slicks or drag radials. The car itself is an excellent platform to build into a nice street/strip car. It just has a few weaknesses that need to be addressed. First is the rear-end, then the tranny, but you already covered that.

Indeed. Ask Fbobby, he just blew up his 10 bolt and he's got a lid and a slip on exhaust. That's it.

Dana 60 > Ford 9" > 12 Bolt

Depending on where you buy it the 60 might be cheaper than the Ford 9. If you can get the 60 grab it up, it may be slightly heavier, but it also is the most efficient.

FBC< what kinda offers can you give the man for his needs in the form of a Dana 60?

Sorry I've been in a fog of late, but if you're still interested it's $2400.

Since it's a little slow I'll do $2300 and besides you are all like family to me. Well maybe not family, but at least as close as that annoying redneck that lives behind me and squeals his wheels at 1:30 AM.
