Default help... rearend and gears???

Well this week i am gonna order a new rearend, but i am not sure to go with the 9" w/detroit locker or 12bolt w/eaton posi ?? I realy like the bulletproofness of the 9" but i also like the less hp to spin the 12bolt ??. Then there's gears 3.73 or 4.11? Not realy sure , right know i have a t56 and i run either a 26"dr or 28"et . Next year would like to swap to a th400, and would like to plan for it . If you guys have any input it would be a great help. Thanks

I'm not a expert in the subject, but I'd go 9" if you want to do any more to the Formula. Just incase you get the "itch" to go bigger and better, you won't have to worry about it as much.

Dana60 is the strongest, sucks the LEAST amount of hp, but weighs the most. All of the weight is right on the rear tires though, so it's not that big of a deal. We are working on getting a group buy going. Usually takes about 5 orders to get it going with the better rates. Let me know if you are interested.

I agree with the Dana60. Strange Engineering make direct bolt in Dana60 now. Still kinda pricey but cheaper than their 12 bolts.

If you were gonna use a tranny with overdrive you could run 4.11 gears but with a 400 turbo you might want to stay with 3.73 or maybe even 3.42 depending on how much highway driving you do.

The Dana60 from Strange comes standard with a power-lock posi unit. You can upgrade to a true-trac or detroit locker for 79.99. You don't really need to upgrade though, it's beefy enough as it is. The pinion gear comes in contact with the ring gear higher up on a Dana compared to a 12-bolt which is higher than a 9" rear. The physics involved with this are why it sucks less hp. It also comes standard with 35 spline axles instead of a 12-bolts 33 spline. You'll want to run 3.73's or 3.54's in back if you are going to go with a th400. Contact nytrus1@yahoo.com or BaD AZz Z28 onhere for the group buyinfo.

Agreed, unless it's a dedicated track car don't go with 4.XX and a Turbo 400

A T-56 would work just fine though because if it's super deep 6th gear.

I went with a 9" in mine.I already had the center section,so i only had to buy the housing and axles.33 spline and a spool w/3.73.I should never have worry about breaking it.
