Default Mobil 1

So...since they switched their 'fully synthetic' oil line to a Basestock III, I have noticed something.

Older bottle on the right and a newer bottle on the left....

Notice how much smaller the words "Fully Synthetic" have gotten??
This is because Mobil jumped another oil company for switching to a Basestock III from a Basestock IV years ago. Even landed in court as I understand it.
Well....Mobil didn't prevail.

So over the last couple years, Mobil 1 also switched to Basestock III....which means it passes as a full synthetic in the states, but it wouldn't in Europe.
Just some food for thought when you see Mobil 1 sitting on the shelf for $6.50 a quart. Still a great oil, just that Mobil didn't lower their prices when they swtiched to the lower basestock.

Basicly....it is $2 a quart too much. And a little thin, but unless you have some SERIOUSLY extreme cold, that shouldn't matter much.

I will be using Pennzoil Platinum 10w-30 in all three of our cars.

UOA's don't lie.

Royal Purple tends to shear easily. No thanks.

Pennzoil Platinum, Amsoil are the two top choices right now.

I'll disagree that RP shears too easy. Ive' had the tests doing on a few changes now that I'm running giggle gas. At the 3000 mark I was told just to change the filter at 3 and go till 6 and come back with that oil. I'm going to send it in after it gets cold out, with about 5800 on teh change, I'll let you all know how it goes. Though soon I'll be hitting the track as often as possible to get this current setup perfected.
