Default Security alarm goes off and car doesnt start...?

Pretty much what the heading says. I got into my car today, using the keys(not the keyless entry because the battery wore out) and the alarm started freaking out going off for 5 minutes(no joke) very embarassing. Any ideas how I can even get my car started?

It's part of the security system. Put a new battery in the keyless and hit unlock button, you'll be good to go. Had the same thing happen to my friend's Grand Am.

Just did. Took a little while for it to work, but the keyless works fine now. Thanks, man.

For future reference, when you get a new battery, if the remote doesnt work still, hold both the unlock and lock button at the same time for about 4 seconds, and the car will flash and beep and it will reset it.
