FNG from Germany
Hey all.
I am an American who has lived in Germany for the past 12+ years.
I am currently looking at a 1993 V6 Firebird that is for sale by an American in my area.
The car has 127,000 miles on it.
I have stood by the car but will not be able to meet the owner or drive it until this afternoon. The owner says it has a oil leak around the exhaust manifold but other than that it is a good driver and just passed inspection.
He is asking $1300.00 . KBB says $1900 is the value. I think I might try and get it for a straight grand.
Right now I am in search of a Camaro or Firebird because I am 43 and have not fulfilled the teenage dream of owning one. I know that those of you who were teens in the 80's know what I am talking about.
Plans for the car is to fix it up nice and just have a fun vehicle to ride around in once in a while. It would not be my daily driver since I already have two cars, an SUV, and three motorcycles.
Should I be concerned about the oil leak around the exhaust manifold? Is this a sign of other major problems or is this typical of a Firebird this old and easily fixed by replacing a gasket or two?
If I get the car I plan to be around quite a bit and bug the hell out of those of you who have been around FBs for a long time.
P.S. Is it true that I have to grow a mullet to be considered a "REAL" Trans-Am owner??
