Default Hi everyone

Hi guys, new to the board, but not the hobby of f-bodies! Ever since I was 16 I have only ever owned f-bodies. (well that's a lie I have an S-10 for an everyday driver) But its always been second or third gen T/A's. Quite recently I was on craigslist and found a 1999 Firebird for $650 in my area. It had a blown head gasket and a horrid primer paint job, a broken door, and a damaged rear quarter panel.

I thought it was a pretty good buy and have already started collecting my parts (notice the Trans Am spoiler upgrade) to rebuild this car into a quick little V6. My goal is start out small by opening up the air flow and cooling the engine. My planned mods are 160 degree therm, headers from summit racing, delete the cat (no emissions in my state) and stainless steel straight pipes back to a either a hooker or dynomax muffler. From there perhaps a K&N Air filter kit with a functional ram air hood and a perhaps have the computer reprogrammed. My goal is to get the car to produce about 240HP while maintaining good fuel economy. My 86 Trans Am is a 12 second car so I don't see the need to go overboard with the V6 lol so I don't see any turbo or super charger in my near future but who knows.

Anyway its nice to meet everyone I have been reading the boards for the last few days and I hope to get to know you guys or even meet some of you at the trans am nationals in Augast!

On!

Welcome, these V6s are pretty solid engines with a great amount of potential. Don't forget to keep us updated as you make progress.

Nice score! Sounds like it's going to be a nice little ride when you're done. Good luck with the project and welcome to FBO!
