Default new 88 firebird

so i just got an 88 firebird sport coupe rs(the 2.8 v-6 engine)and i am wanting to replace the motor with a short block chevy engine...i was thinking of a 383 but im not sure...let me know if you have any suggestions or if you have done this yourself thanks.
