Talking A new guy with a 92 Firebird

Hello Gents

Im new to the group, looks like a great page to share the love of the F-bodies and talk to people that have good advice when I hit a snag. Currently living in MN but Im from Milwaukee WI.

I have a 92 Firebird with a 305 V-8. I saw it when I was 16 and I'm never letting her go. She all show and no go for the time being, but that will change eventually.

Everything is pretty much stock when it comes to performance. I put on a nice exhaust with tubular exhaust headers and thats about it. However I have a set of Spohn sway bars, and a wonder bar in the mail as we speak so I'm excited to get those installed. Also put on some drilled and slotted rotors in the front.

I made alot of cosmetic improvements since I got her. Replaced the original T-tops with DOT approved tempered glass, chrome exhaust tips, new stereo, a brand new set of the 16x8 aluminum wheels from the formulas to replace the 15x7's I had, those are accompanied by a nice fat set of tires (p295 cooper cobra radial GT), window tint, chrome kit under the hood, put in the leather shifter and e-brake handle from the TA, logo'ed floor mats, and thats about it. So pretty much it looks more like a TA on the inside.

Its on its third motor. The original motor's main bearing failed at about 80,000, replaced it with a 305 my Dad had bought. It was sitting around for about 2 years at this point so I took it completely apart to make sure no rust was inside, first day of spring Im driving it back up north to college and half way there the main bearing failed again! It was a real kick in the nuts. My dad bought it from some kid so we had no warranty. Then we had the original still laying in the garage so we had that one professionally rebuilt, slightly bored with slightly bigger pistons. She's running like a top now.

I have had to replace every engine accessory except the steering pump, the fuel pump in the tank, the power antenna, catalytic converter, window motors, fog lamps, and tail light assemblies. Sometimes I swear she is cursed by evil. I call her the turquoise bitch cause it seems like when something can go wrong, it always does. But I sure do love her though.

I would post a picture of her but I dont know how yet.

Cheers
