Greetings fellow F-Body Owners!
I just stumbled across this website while I was looking for some parts. So, I thought I'd register.
A little bit about me...
I'm an avid Firebird enthusiast. I've owned six of them over the years and yet some how or another they end up slipping through my fingers due to one event or another. i'm thinking the one I have now...it's here to stay. So, I'm no stranger to the F-Body community.
I started out with a 1976 Firebird Esprit. That car is what did it for me and my love of the Firebird. After I lost that car, I picked up a 1983 Trans AM with 86K on the ticker in 1995 when I got stationed in NC. Had the car for about three/four months when I was run off the road and totalled it. Shortly after I picked up another 1983 Trans AM and tried to do a heart transplant...yeah...that didn't work out too good. I ended up selling the two cars as a pair since between the two there was one good one.
After that, I took a hiatus from the Firebird for a little while. In 1999 I started dating a girl that worked at the Pontiac dealership. It was then that I figured it was a good time to return to the cars I loved and picked up a brand new 2000 V6 M5 Firebird. The first brand new car I ever bought. In 2001, I found out I had orders to Korea and a little one on the way. So, I did the responsible thing and traded my baby in so that my wife would have something reliable to tote her and the baby around in while I was gone for a year. The one good thing...as we drove off the lot and I saw my car for the last time my wife said that I could have another one when I got home.
13 months later I was home back in NC and the search began. I was searching for a Formula 350. That's what I wanted the most. I've always like the Formulas more. It was a difficult search. For almost a year I looked and looked, but could not find one. By this time the wife started prodding me to get a second car so I settled. I came across a 1981 Firebird with a V6. I thought I would be able to fix it up. It ended up being more work than I had time, money, or experience to do.
When I realized that is when I found my current Firebird. Sitting on a used lot for over six-months was a grey Trans AM. It was after a few trips by the lot that I noticed it was a GTA. I thought to myself this could be promising so I went and looked at it once we got our taxes back. It had the TPI 350 I was looking for and the car was clean and it pretty decent shape. I drove it and was impressed with the low end torque so I laid down the cash and drove it home leaving my 1981 'Bird with them.
That's pretty much it for me. In the years my wife and I have been married...eight this year...I finally got her into her very own Firebird last spring. Wouldn't you know it'd be a Formula 350.

So now, we're a his and hers team with our 'Birds.
Before I get the whole...
I'll post them up when I get home since I'm at work right now and gov't computers won't let me get to where my pictures are. Go figure.
Thansk for reading and I look forward to having a good time sharing F-Body stories with y'all. Have a good one.
