If I'm sure that it runs do you guys think that an LT1 would be a good upgrde for my third gen??

Well it will definitely be an improvement, that is obvious. People can argue what engine you should have gotten, but if it makes you happy and goes fast, its the right choice for you

If your set on doing a swap,go for it.It can be costly compared to just buying one that already has one in it.And ANY motor you put in there can be modified.It's just a matter of how fast you want to go and how much $$ you are willing too spend.Shop around before you buy a motor though.You never know what you might find.

I know money is always a big factor when doing something like this. And a swap is typically not very cheap or easy. If I was going to go through all the trouble to do a swap, i'd drop in an LS1 instead of LT1.

Well, a LS Based engine at least. I'd go for a LS2 or a LQ9 myself knowing that 500whp can be had from them with little effort.
