Default 4 inch raised hood

so im lookin to upgrade the hood of my 97 trans am in hopes of one day getting some new paint, a new look, and eventually, ram air...I really like the 4in raised hood but i dont know exactly how it will fit with a ram air box. Is it too big? does it have a box to fit around the filter? I cant afford to buy one and find out it doesnt work so i was hoping maybe someone at least knows if it works with regular ram air setup.

You talking about the 4" Cowl like this one:
Glasstek : H3047 : 1993 - 1997 : Pontiac Firebird : Hood - Bolt on - Ram Air - Raised Center - 4 Inch

It should keep the Ram Air "functional" as long as the nostrils are open. I've never really seen one to know if its got a seal around the filter but I'd doubt it.

I drove a camaro with the 4inch rise.
Tell you the truth and don't mean to offend anyone but I hated it.
Blocks your view and feels like its in your face all the time.
Go with a hood that just gives you that power bulge effect, basically the WS6 ram air hood looks best IMO or in your case with a 93-97 just go with the firehawk hood.
Just my .02

I agree that I don't like driving Cowled cars because I'm not used to it. I'm sure I'd get used to it after a while though.

Try calling up the place you're looking to buy the hood from and ask about the seal for the air box. Can't hurt to try.

I have a 2 inch on my Z. It takes time getting used to it . Some states 4 are illegal. I agree with Rocket 442. Check with the manufacturer about your question.
