I tried this just before I put my car away for winter and it worked quite well! Luckily, my house is a 1/4 mile from a rual highway.

I've used microfiber towels on mine and have had nothing but good results (I've got cheapos from Advance,mid-priced from Viking and high $$$ from Griot's Garage). They're not meant for washing and drying though, mainly to remove polish and wax plus they're great for wiping down the car with spray detailers too.

You stated your problem "cheap" micro fiber towels. Don't be cheap when it comes to car care and you wont get burned. I took a 3 week course several years ago from a reputable paint and body shop back home that was 100% car care learning. Micro fiber is a great and inovative product. You 1st must wash the micro fiber towels w/ a mild soap/detergent in warm water. DO NOT put them in the dryer, they will absorb all the small dirt/sand particles that come from the lint trap, air dry all micro fiber towels. Micro fiber towels ( good ones ) come color coded for a reason, use the blue micro fiber towels for polishing/waxing/washing.....green is better for cleaning glass or plastics. I still do detail work for several old men that have C5 C6 and one C6 Zo6 vettes, all I use is micro fiber and do you think that they would'nt kill me if their pride and joy vette was scratched up? If you have any more detailing questions, PLEASE message me and I will answer ALL your questions to the best of my ability.

I've got a quick question for you, what about washing microfiber applicator pads:is it ok to wash them with the towels?

^ If you are talking about washing the foam pad that is covered w/ a microfiber cloth for polishing purposes............yes, you can, but wash in warm water to help break up any polish/wax on the applicator pad and make sure to set your wash machine to "full" or "max" load capacity, even thou you only have a few towels in there, all that extra water will help to disapate any dirt particles, wax,polish...etc...out of the towels and applicator. Air dry them on an indoor drying rack if possible to keep outdoor elements from getting on them.

I have that blade. Works pretty good for me. Would be a good idea to have a chamois to pick up the little water lines that might be left after finished with the wipe. But, it works pretty well

Then again, the paint on our cars isn't the greatest, but I do want to protect it as much as I can until we're able to get them repainted.
